Gifts For Motorcyclists

!±8± Gifts For Motorcyclists

The winter holidays are approaching and you need a gift for that special biker or motorcyclist in your life, right?

But what to get them? bikers are a rare breed and tend to look at life a little differently than most. That can lead to more than a little trouble figuring out what to get them. Well here's a quick little guide to keep in mind when looking for a gift.

1. Think about the time of year.

At the time of this writing, it's October. Cold weather is setting in, but most of the country can still ride. Think about things that will increase the comfort of the rider such as heated clothes, windshields, heated seats and grips, or full face helmets.

As winter sets in, it is the perfect time to buy products for the actual bike. Most of the country will have " are perfect gifts for the biker longing to get out there and ride. If your Motorcyclist loved one is a do-it-yourself-er and you want something really special (read: expensive), then winter is the time to get the new exhaust system, internal engine parts such as cams, or maybe send those tins (tank, fenders, etc.) out to get a professional custom paint job!

With springtime, you should be thinking about products that help get the bike ready to ride or improve the experience of riding in unpredictable weather: rainsuits, a tuneup at the dealer or local shop, new tires, GPS systems, luggage systems, or maybe light weight leather or textile jackets and riding suits.

For summer you might wonder where your loved one went and whether they are worth a gift at all since they never seem to be around! But don't worry, they love you, and any gifts during the summer should be one of two things: Paraphernalia such as mugs, shirts, paintings, videos, books, etc. - OR - you can listen closely to them when they talk about that ONE thing missing from their bike that they just HAVE to have.

2. Think about the Rider

Are they a die hard biker or a weekend rider? This is pretty important cause if you buy a full on racing suit for a weekend rider it might not get used that much... just a thought. By the same token, a book about basic riding techniques may not be the best gift for a friend who just finished his third trip to the Superbike Racing School.

3. Think about the type of bike and the type of motorcyclist your loved one is.

Some of us are Harley riders. Some wouldn't be caught dead on one. Some ride Old British Iron. Others ride Italian carbon fiber streaks of red. We are all bikers of a sort, but the gear is NOT always interchangeable. Do your research! Find out what bike he or she rides and look it up on the Web. Check out pictures, look up the official website and see what kind of gear they sell along with the bikes.

4. Conversely, never forget the universal needs of all motorcyclists.

We all need certain things, and generally speaking there are some products that fit all motorcycles. Besides the one size fits all - and generally great idea if you don't know much about bikes - Gift card from a website or dealership, things such as battery tenders, cleaning supplies, owners manuals for the specific bike in question, and anti-fog for face shields (make sure he or she wears a full face helmet first...) are all good thoughtful small gifts for the motorcyclist in your life.

Hopefully, you now have a ton of ideas about what to get your motorcycle riding loved one, so I'll let you get to it with one more comment; NEVER be afraid that buying something motorcycle related isn't the right thing to get them! Every biker wants more stuff for their bike, or for their riding enjoyment. You simply can not go wrong with a thoughtful bike related gift for the enthusiast in your life.
